Behind The Blog- Blue Carbon Life is a new endeavor which strives to educate and aid the public to the importance of blue carbon ecosystems throughout the world. Blue carbon is carbon sequestration (the removal of carbon dioxide from the earth's atmosphere) by the world's coastal and oceanic ecosystems, mostly by algae, seagrasses, mangroves, salt marshes and other plants in coastal wetlands. Seagrass, salt marshes and mangroves are sometimes referred to as "blue forests" in contrast to land-based "green forests". Blue carbon is a term used to describe the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by the ocean and coastal ecosystems. The plants involved in this carbon sequestration include various types of algae, seagrass, and mangroves, and other plants growing in salt marshes and coastal wetlands.
